How to budget for landing page software over its whole life

Budgeting landing page software for England buyers: a quote-led whole-life method with quote records, illustrative cost lines, assurance and exit rows.

Landing page software costs and pricing are hard to compare from public price pages alone. This guide sets out a whole-life budgeting method for England buyers: the quote records to keep, the cost ranges to fill, and the appraisal, assurance and exit rows a budget needs.

What to take away

  • Build the budget from a dated quote for an exact edition, not from a public price page. Keep source amount, currency, VAT status and expiry date.
  • No named supplier quote appears in this article. It is not a price comparison of Unbounce, Leadpages or Instapage.
  • Cost the whole lifesupplier charges, implementation, content, assurance and exit.
  • Use one comparison period and keep the business-as-usual option in the appraisal.
  • Normalise currencies and tax only after finance confirms the treatment.

What a dated quote gives an England buyer

A dated quote names the supplier legal entity, exact edition, billing period, minimum term and expiry. It also states the unit. It states whether VAT is included, excluded or unresolved.

A public price page is not your price. A dated quote for an exact edition is the budget input.

Public pricing pages checked on 14 June 2026 used different currencies, plan names and promotion rules. None supplied a settled GBP or VAT position for an England buyer. Treat list prices as orientation only.

No named supplier quote is given here. The method below records any quote. It does not rank Unbounce, Leadpages, Instapage or HubSpot.

England cost ranges by budget line

The ranges below are labelled illustrative England figures before VAT, not quotes. Use them to open a row, then replace each figure with dated evidence.

Cost lineIllustrative England range before VATBasis
Subscription$49 to $299 per month self-serve; $500 to $2,000+ enterprisePublic list prices
Implementation£3,000 to £15,000 SME; £20,000 to £75,000+ complexDated supplier or agency quote
Internal labour£35 to £120 per loaded hourFinance-approved rate
Content£250 to £1,500 per pageQuote or timesheet
Privacy review£1,000 to £5,000 simple workflowDated specialist quote
Security assurance£2,000 to £15,000Dated specialist quote
Accessibility audit£1,500 to £7,500 focused scopeDated specialist quote
Incident reserve5% to 15% of annual supplier spend; £5,000 to £25,000 mid-marketFinance-documented basis
Exit£2,000 to £20,000Dated migration quote

Before comparing products, describe the job and exact edition, as set out in the guide to landing page software tools and suppliers. That step stops a cheap plan being matched to the wrong workflow.

Example: whole-life budgets for an SME and an enterprise

This worked table is illustrative arithmetic, not a quote, forecast or accounting advice. It consolidates the ranges above into one whole-life total for each buyer.

Whole-life budgets for an SME and an enterprise

SME

Supplier subscription, year 1
£2,000
Implementation
£8,000
Internal labour
£6,000
Content
£1,200
Assurance
£4,000
Incident reserve
£1,000
Exit
£3,000
Whole-life total
£25,200

Enterprise

Supplier subscription, year 1
£20,000
Implementation
£50,000
Internal labour
£30,000
Content
£10,000
Assurance
£18,000
Incident reserve
£12,000
Exit
£15,000
Whole-life total
£155,000

The SME total assumes a single brand and a simple workflow. The enterprise total assumes multi-brand integration, regulated content and higher assurance. Replace every cell with a dated quote or approved internal rate.

Recording a quote before it enters the model

Use one price record per monetary input. A list price without these fields cannot support a budget.

Field / What to record

Quote identity
Order form version, quote reference and supplier legal entity
Exact offer
Product, plan, edition, unit and included allowance
Term
Billing period, minimum commitment and overage method
Tax and currency
VAT status, source currency and exchange-rate source
Dates and owner
Retrieval date, expiry date, buyer owner and confidence level

A dated quote for a mid-tier plan at $199 per month billed annually gives a source amount of $2,388 per year before VAT. That is arithmetic, not a named supplier quote. The budget must show currency, billing period and VAT status beside the number.

Where VAT applies in the UK, the standard rate is 20%. Keep an annual prepayment separate from a flexible monthly obligation. Their cash timing, cancellation risk and renewal terms differ. Normalise only after the accountant confirms treatment. A budget template with quote provenance gives you the fields and reforecast triggers.

Appraisal, assurance and exit costs

The 2026 HM Treasury Green Book separates appraisal before a decision from evaluation afterwards. It asks for proportionate options, costs, benefits, risks and uncertainty. A private buyer can borrow that structure without claiming Treasury approval.

Landing pages may deploy scripts, pixels and integrations. The ICO finalised its storage and access technologies guidance on 29 April 2026. Cost the inventory, configuration, consent or objection controls and continuing rechecks.

Accessibility work should follow WCAG 2.2 technical criteria, with scope set by a qualified specialist. The NCSC SaaS guidance states that customers retain configuration, identity and logging responsibilities. Budget for supplier assurance, incident planning and recovery exercises. A whole-life cost ledger keeps those rows visible beside subscription charges.

Exit rows cover page and asset export, lead reconciliation, redirects, deletion verification and service overlap. An untested export promise is an uncertainty, not a zero-cost exit. Add the exit quote to the whole-life total before approval.

Common questions

Should I use public list prices at all?

Yes, for orientation only. They often lack a common GBP basis, VAT status and minimum term, so they cannot support a budget on their own.

What if my quote is in US dollars or euros?

Keep the source amount and currency in the evidence record. Ask finance to document the exchange-rate source and date, then show the converted figure in a separate column.

How do I treat VAT on a non-UK supplier?

Use the order form, the supplier legal entity and HMRC guidance. The accountant should document registration status, place of supply, reverse charge and recovery where relevant.

When should I refresh an expired quote?

Request a refreshed quote before approval if the quote expires. Record the new retrieval date and do not carry an expired amount into the final pack.
